How it started

Sentry Elevator Inspections was founded more than 15 years ago by Larry Nelson with one clear mission: to deliver reliable, high-quality elevator inspections that owners can trust.

With over 60 years of hands-on experience in the elevator industry, Larry has witnessed—and adapted to—the industry’s continual evolution. His career began in elevator installation, service, and repair, where he built a reputation for deep technical knowledge, practical problem-solving, and an unwavering commitment to customer service.

Sentry Elevator Inspections is a full service elevator inspection and consulting firm registered in Florida. We hold the nationally recognized Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification, which is required for performing elevator inspections in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators.

Our experience enables more accurate reporting of deficiencies and better familiarity with the history of code development.
